Clip-in vs weft extensions
Clip-in and weft extensions both use real human hair, but they suit different needs. This side-by-side guide helps you decide between at-home flexibility and salon-fitted, all-day length.
Clip-in extensions
Wefts on small clips that you attach and remove yourself in minutes. Best for: occasional wear, events, travel, and adding thickness without commitment. You take them out at night and reuse them for years with care. Nothing is bonded to your hair, so they are the gentlest option.
Weft (sew-in) extensions
Flat wefts fitted in the salon for secure, semi-permanent length worn day and night. Best for: people who want to wake up ready, or who want length that stays put through sport and busy days. They are re-set every 6–8 weeks as your hair grows.
Side by side
| Clip-in | Weft | |
|---|---|---|
| Applied by | Yourself, at home | Stylist, in salon |
| Wear | On for the day, off at night | Continuous, semi-permanent |
| Commitment | None | Re-set every 6–8 weeks |
| Best for | Events, occasional volume | Everyday length, active lifestyles |
Which should you choose?
If you want flexibility and the gentlest option, choose clip-ins. If you want length that is always there with no daily effort, choose wefts. Many clients start with clip-ins and move to wefts once they know the look they love. At your free consultation we match your shade and recommend the method that fits your hair and routine.
