How to make your hair extensions last longer

Premium human-hair extensions are an investment that can last many months and often survive more than one fitting. A few simple habits make the difference between a set that stays glossy and one that dulls early.

Wash less, wash gently

Over-washing strips moisture. Wash only when needed with a sulfate-free shampoo and a nourishing conditioner, and always detangle first. The propolis-based Volupropol care range is formulated to be kind to extensions and scalp.

Protect the ends

Dry, matted ends are the usual reason a set looks old. Condition mid-lengths to tips, use a heat protectant before styling, and avoid very high heat.

Brush the right way

Use a soft-bristle or loop brush, hold the weft at the root, and work from the ends up. Never drag a brush from the top through a tangle.

Sleep smart

Braid or loosely tie your hair before bed and use a silk pillowcase to cut friction. Never sleep on wet hair.

Keep your maintenance visits

Wefts should be re-set every 6–8 weeks. Regular servicing keeps the attachment secure, the hair clean and the blend seamless — and it's the single biggest factor in how long a set lasts.
