Are hair extensions damaging? The honest answer
It is the first question most people ask, and the honest answer is: it depends on the method, the quality of the hair, and — most of all — the fitting. Done well, extensions are safe. Done badly, they can stress your hair.
Extensions themselves do not damage hair. What causes damage is too much weight, poor attachment, or neglecting removal and maintenance. When the method suits your hair and the fitting is done by a trained stylist, your natural hair is protected.
The gentlest options
Clip-ins are the kindest choice because nothing is bonded to your hair — you simply take them out at night. Wefts, fitted and re-set correctly, spread weight safely and are worn continuously without harming the hair beneath.
Where damage really comes from
Problems usually come from bonds that are too heavy for fine hair, sets left in far too long without a re-fit, or aggressive removal. This is exactly why we assess your hair honestly at the consultation and only recommend a method your hair can carry.
Protecting your own hair
Keep to the maintenance interval, brush gently from the ends, wash with sulfate-free products, and never sleep on wet, un-braided hair. Treat the join with care and your natural hair stays healthy underneath.
If you have fine or fragile hair, don't be discouraged — it simply means the right method and weight matter more. Bring your questions to a free consultation and we'll tell you honestly what fits.
